- But have we adapted ???
- Unfortunately, the wisest of them all continue to follow the old rules that are completely outdated
- Life was defined as
- Education
- Job
- Retirement
- It was clearly demarcated with no overlap
- A great education meant a great job and a great salary and a great lifestyle
- Today this theory has been thrown out of the window
- The large business system is archaic because the small business has got the power to scale up at very low cost because of
- Cloud-based technology
- White labelling systems
- Gig workers (pay for skill and not time)
- Availability of Capital
- Hence one need not belong to a traditional business family like the Tatas or Birlas to make it big
- Think of Flipkart, Oyo, Ola etc
- Hence job system has changed
- Getting picked up by Business Giants for a lifetime or for even a decade is passe
- Jobs are mostly available in startups
- Startups care less for your degree or your college
- What matters is attitude and a mind to learn
- Because of the pace of change of knowledge, we no longer can depend on the education system because what you learn gets out of sync in a few years if not a few months
- Hence the new normal is education for life. This is something one has no choice but to adapt to stay relevant
- If education is for life then why are the youth whiling away their time by being students?
- Why not start working and studying together from the age of 20 if not earlier
- They have the strength, the stamina with age on their side
- They can live double lives
- This also is the best way to channel their mercurial adolescent minds towards meaningful practices
- Their spare capacities are their biggest enemies leading them into undesirable areas
- Also the 5 extra years or more that they can contribute means they become financially free by the time they are 40
- This means that we get 20 good years from everyone to unleash their creativity and make the planet a better place
- So if you want to study till 25 it is fine. In fact, we believe you will have to study till you live
- But the opportunity of starting to contribute to meaningful work need not be postponed to post-academic period anymore
- Because honestly there ain’t any post-academic period anymore
