Why the hiring process is more important than the training process?
OR
The Biggest Secret of Success sits at the Main door of an organization
To understand this read on …..
1) Functional Training certainly works. How to drive a car? How to do a transaction? Getting trained to pass CFP or NISM papers etc. do work very well
2) But when it comes to behavioral training, one should not depend too much on it
3) “You don’t. You can’t.” You can’t get people to share your core values.
4) You can’t give people new core values halfway through life.
5) As Harry Truman once said, “If somebody doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong by the time they’re thirty, they probably never will.”
6) The whole task is to find people who are already predisposed to your core values—They could be either already inspired which is the best. Alternately the core values could be latent and in such cases the training is likely to work
7) Those who do not have a predisposition to sharing the core values get ejected like a virus, escorted right out the door by the organizational antibodies.
8) So, the Principle is that : they must share the core values
9) Therefore hiring is all about getting the right man
10) The problem is we use the salary filter too early
11) Hiring the wrong person at a lower cost is actually an expensive proposition
12) Because hiring a wrong person won’t work in the long term, the person would anyways get ejected like a virus by the organizational anti bodies as explained above leaving you staring at a double loss of both ‘time’ and ‘money’
13) The biggest success strategy of any business is at the main door of hiring
14) Unfortunately we look at hiring only from the cost lens and that is the genesis of failure of many a big Organizations
I rest my case
